Privacy
The Reparations Ledger is a public landing page with research, downloads, and form-based correspondence. The privacy goal is simple: collect only what is needed to run the site, receive serious notes, and keep the public record reachable.
The site does not require a general account to read the public pages. Personal information is collected mainly when a visitor decides to submit a form.
1. What information this site may collect
When you submit a form, the site may collect your name, email address, message, the type of form you used, and route context showing which page the submission came from.
Like most websites, the hosting and delivery layers may also create technical logs such as IP address, browser information, request time, and referring page data needed for delivery, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.
- Form fields you choose to submit.
- Technical request metadata generated by the hosting and delivery stack.
- Local consent-state storage used to remember privacy choices.
- Advertising-related browser activity only if you accept optional ad tools.
2. How information is collected
Information is collected directly when you type into a form, automatically when your browser requests a page, and through limited browser storage used to remember privacy choices.
The current live site also supports light Google AdSense usage, but the related script stays off until a visitor accepts the consent prompt.
3. How the information is used
The site uses correspondence data to read and respond to messages, review source submissions, route support requests, review feedback, and send requested updates where a visitor has asked for them.
Technical data may be used to deliver pages, secure the service, detect abuse, understand whether the public record is functioning properly, and maintain the site.
4. Cookies, local storage, and advertising tools
The current site uses a first-party browser storage entry to remember whether a visitor accepted or dismissed the consent banner. Optional advertising tools remain off until acceptance.
If you accept the banner, Google AdSense may load and may use its own cookies or similar technologies under Google-controlled policies.
5. How information may be shared
Information may be processed through the site hosting and delivery stack, the form intake workflow, and advertising vendors only where optional ad tools are allowed.
Information may also be disclosed if required by law, to respond to abuse or security events, or to protect the rights and safety of the site and its visitors.
6. Retention
Correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed for review, response, archival substantiation, abuse prevention, or legal compliance. Technical logs are retained according to hosting and operational needs.
If you want a submitted message reviewed for deletion or correction, say so clearly through the contact form and the request will be reviewed.
7. Your choices
You can reopen privacy settings from the visible privacy-settings control on the page. You can also clear browser storage directly in your browser if you want to remove stored consent state.
If you want to ask about access, correction, or deletion of information you submitted through a form, use the contact page and identify the request clearly.
8. Children and sensitive information
This site is not directed to children under thirteen, and it is not built as a collection surface for children’s personal information.
Do not send highly sensitive information through the public forms unless it is truly necessary to your correspondence.
9. Changes to this notice
If the site changes the way it handles forms, cookies, or advertising tools, this page will be updated so the public notice stays aligned with the real behavior of the site.
